From one valley to the next

Crossing the Pyrenees with cabin stays

Crossing the range connects landscapes as well as mountain nights. Plan several weeks or shorter sections, combining cabins, refuges and visits to the valleys.

Choose your guiding route first

The GR®10 links the Atlantic and Mediterranean on the French side. Study it as a reference route: cabins marked on a map do not by themselves form a continuous path.

  • Choose an area and its access points before listing overnight stops.
  • Study every link and variant using an up-to-date guide and map.
  • Locate descents to villages and transport options.

Do not rely on one accommodation type

Some stages suit cabin stays, others a refuge or a lodge. Several options give flexibility when a place is closed, occupied or difficult to reach.

  • Book refuges where required and save their contact details offline.
  • Check local rules before including a night in a tent.
  • Include resupply and rest days in your schedule.

Plan the days as carefully as the nights

Adapt stages to terrain, weather and the group. A fixed schedule must not force a pass crossing in poor conditions. Leave room to shorten or stop a section.

Frequently asked questions

Can an entire crossing rely on free cabins?

Website entries cannot guarantee a continuous chain of open, available cabins. Plan mixed accommodation and alternatives for every stage.

Should you start with the full crossing?

A section with known access at both ends lets you test equipment and pace before a longer trip.
